Statement:
My work is complex yet simple. It can be classified in the outsider art genre, but contains elements of art brut, graffiti, abstract, pop art and cartoon illustration. I like working with mixed media and will paint on most anything. My subject matter includes cartoon figures, monsters, tribal folk, animals, mythological beasts and anything else that pops into my mind. All in all I try not to take myself or my art too seriously. I’ve tried that before it didn't work. I am trying to lead a deliberate yet non judgemental life. I want to get things done and have fun while I'm doing it.
RT Vegas...born Arthur Heinzinger-1958 in White Plains, New York. His interest in art started with his first purchase of "Wacky Packs" in the 1960's featuring the art of Norman Saunders. After a stint in the Army he co-founded the New York based punk rock band THE IMPOSTORS in 1978. At this time he adopted RT Vegas as a stage name. Active in local New York music scene, art shows and theatre throughout the 80's and 90's. At the start of 2006 RT Vegas began a full time commitment to his art, inspired due to wide exposure and positive feedback received via the Internet.
